Locus of Control

  • Locus of Control refers to the extent to which people feed that they have control over the events that influence their lives.
  • Locus of Control is an individual's perception abut the underlying main causes in his/her life.
  • It means, Do you believe that your destiny is controlled by your self or by external forces(such as fate, luck etc.,)?

Internal Locus of Control:
  • Internal Locus of Control means you believe you are in control.
  • Individual believes that your behaviour is guided by your personal decisions and efforts.
  • People with an Internal Locus of Control believe that what happens in their life is largely the result of their own behaviour and that they have control over their life.

External Locus of Control:
  • External Locus of Control means you believe external factors are in control (people, situations etc.,).
  • Individuals believes that your behaviour is guided by fate, luck, or other external circumstances.
  • People with External Locus of Control believe that what happens in them is controlled by external factors and they do not have control over their life.
