What is wave?
- A disturbance causing energy transfer through a medium from one location to another location is called "Wave".
- A medium is a substance or material that carries the wave.
- Energy is transferred during the wave motion.
Parts of Wave:
- The highest point on a wave is called "Crest or Peak".
- The lowest point on a wave is called "Trough".
- The horizontal distance between the two successive crests or troughs is called "Wavelength". It is represented by the symbol "λ".
- The vertical distance between the crest and trough is called "Wave Height".
- The half of the wave height is called "Amplitude".
Longitudinal Waves:
- Movement of particles are parallel to the direction of wave propagation.
- Sound waves moving through the air is an example.
