Aliasing:
- Aliasing is a jagged, or stair-step effect (also known as jaggies) on curved or diagonal lines.
- In sound, it produces the distortion or buzz.
Effects of Aliasing:
The errors caused by aliasing are called artifacts. The common artifacts are:
- Jagged Profiles
- Loss of Details
- Disintegrating Textures
Anti-aliasing:
- Anti aliasing is the smoothing of the image or sound roughness caused by aliasing.
- It reduces the aliasing effects.
- With images, approaches include adjusting pixel positions or setting pixel intensities so that there is a more gradual transition between the color of a line and the background color.
