Serif vs Sans Serif

  • Serif is Duch word it means "line".
  • Sans is French word it means "without".

Serif Sans Serif
Definition Serif is a small line attached to the end of a stroke in a character. Sans serif is do not use serifs, small lines at the end of a character.
Examples Times Roman,Courier,Palatino. Arial,Helvetica,Verdana.
Usage For printed works like books,newspapers and magazines. For online works like in web design and in presentations.
Purpose Suitable for high resolutions.

Suitable for low resolutions.
